Highland High School College Information Night - Postponed

Planning is key for future success!
Planning for college is a weighty topic for high school students and their families, especially for those who are approaching “decision time.” To address the many questions surrounding this important subject, Highland High School’s (HHS) Guidance Office has scheduled a College Information Night, which has been rescheduled for Wednesday night at 7:00 in the High school auditorium. During that session, guidance counselors Kristin Candia and Kelly Nelson will talk to juniors and their parents on a variety of topics, including the college search and application process, campus visits, admission terms, application timelines, SAT and ACT testing information, financial aid, and scholarships. While actual colleges will not be represented at this presentation, various college/university representatives visit HHS throughout the school year. Also, the Guidance Office houses abundant material about colleges and universities throughout the country, and can provide website links and other helpful resources. As Ms. Candia notes, “College Information Night is intended to inspire our juniors to begin their college search and planning process.” Previewing the comprehensive follow-up that will take place, Ms. Nelson advises, “After College Information Night, counselors will meet individually with each junior to discuss their college plans and career goals. These meetings are intended to facilitate as successful a college search experience as possible."

For more information on College Information Night, contact either guidance counselor Kristin Candia (kcandia@highland-k12.org) or Kelly Nelson (knelson@highland-k12.org).
